BEXATRON - Hey You! ALBUM REVIEW
Bringing back the sounds of 80's hair metal, glam rock, and straight in your face punk rock is UK rock band BEXATRON.
The female fronted rock punk band is like a melting pot combo of glam-like band the New York Dolls, the straight punk sound of The Sex Pistols, the melodic 80's undertones of Duran Duran, with the vibes of front-women Blondie and Joan Jett.
From front to back BEXATRON's debut album HEY YOU! is a collage of decades of rock scrambled about into one album. Right off the bat the first track i grabbed a hold of was GET OUT OF MY TREE which reminds me of AC/DC meets L.A. Guns with big arena sounding drums, distorted guitars and sing-a-long chants throughout the track.
A track like HEX YOUR EX has a real Flock of Seagulls meets Bon Jovi vibe to it with the straight 4 on the floor drumming, big choruses and to-the-point bridges. Tunes like SUBWAY FREEKS and I'M TRASH seem to be taking things back a decade with an older rock feel, with a stripped down sound that's pure yet still heavy. Debut single DIRTY DISCO from HEY YOU! has a real Spinnarettes vibe to it with that tough, gritty punk rock sound meets pop-vibe to it.
Tunes like LOVE AND DISTORTION and NEW YORK DOLL sound like well, The New York Dolls and MC5 with that post-pop-glammy punk sound. What I love about BEXATRON is diversity, character and the slight nods and homages to their influences throughout the decades.
