FORGOTTEN SONS - Pennies In The Water SINGLE REVIEW
Vocals - Birdy Burgess Drums - John Gair Guitar - Sandy Middleton Bass - John Valentine
With a sound that's on a hard rock end of the scale of indie rock meets pop-punk comes Scotland's quartet THE FORGOTTEN SONS.
Forming in 2015, they deliver high-energy rock at its most elemental, citing influence from bands such as Alkaline Trio, The Gaslight Anthem, Biffy Clyro and Foo Fighters. Since forming in 2015, they have released their debut EP Titled "Just So You Know" and have been working on follow-up material.
This past September brought the first of many singles from the band's follow up forth-comer, the first is the tune PENNIES IN THE WATER which really displays the band's sound as a whole. The tune, with definite punk rock influences has this indie rock element as well, reminding me of bands like The Clarks, Mumford & Sons and Alkaline Trio all bunched together.
Vocalist, Robert Burgess comments about the song:
“Too many people spend their money and time wishing for a better life but don't follow through with their hopes and dreams. This song is about realizing when someone you care for is very unhappy and you feel you have what it takes to save them from their own demise.”
