Pop-punk trio Goalkeeper are a band that have always been near and dear to my heart since I first caught wind of their EP “Bad Times Don’t Last”.

Being a PA band and hailing from Philly/NJ area and myself being from Pittsburgh, I've personally watched these guys play shows on many occasions as well as have had the opportunity to review their last album and interview them in person.

Goalkeeper recently dropped their latest single "Black Hole" from their upcoming EP PINS AND NEEDLES which is dropping on October 4th, 2024 with the single Black Hole out now on all streaming platforms.

The band is also set to embark on a two-week tour with pop-punk outfit Calling All Captains entitled the "The (e)motional Support Tour" which will see the bands hit major east coast cities like Chicago, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Boston, and even a few dates in Canada as well. (full list of tour dates below.)

Black Hole feels like the band in a more mature direction, at least sonically. If their track "Sooner" from their last LP "I Wish I Met You Sooner" was their "Take Off Your Pants and Jacket", (blink-182 reference to the nerds out there), then Black Hole is definitely going in the direction of blink-182's Untitled record. The tone of Black Hole is darker, (no pun intended) while still holding true to the classic "Drive Thru Records Era", upbeat, pop-punk style that Goalkeeper is good for.

The lyrics even have a more melancholy tone, which I love. It shows the band being vulnerable while taking chances and opening up more. The track as a whole has a catchy ass chorus "Black hole take me somewhere far away from here. Don’t wait for me this is how I disappear". I also had a chance to check out the rest of the upcoming Pins and Needles EP as well, and you guys are definitely in for a treat. The Goalkeeper you thought you knew from high school grew up and I'm all for it.

BLACK HOLE is out now everywhere. PINS AND NEEDLES drops on October 4th, 2024 on all streaming platforms!
