JACK THE ENVIOUS - Bleeding Honestly ALBUM REVIEW

Jack The Envious

Vocals - Nir Perlman Guitar - Emanuel Andrade Bass/Backing Vocals- Guy Tchakarov Drums - James MacPherson

Alt. rock/ pop-punk UK quartet JACK THE ENVIOUS are set to release their forthcoming EP Bleeding Honestly TOMORROW. The band started while founding members Nir and Chuck met while serving as commanders in the Israeli army, there they bonded over their strong connection to music, and in 2016, the band released their debut EP (Pull You Down). Followed up by their 2017 album In Your Own Way after the band moved to London.

The band has been working off and on between tour cycles with their 3rd forthcoming album Bleeding Honestly. The album is 6 tracks (plus 2 bonus tracks) are full of pure emo/alt. rock/ pop-punk heaviness. Tunes like opening track STAY SILENT has a real top 40's pop sounding chorus with all of the elements of a hard pop-punk tune which kicks into a catchy as hell chorus. Track ALONE is reminiscent of a Sum 41 tune circa (their Chuck album) meets all of the modern characteristics of a modern pop-punk tune.

WALK IN THE DARK is a straight up "party song". It's jumpy, it's bouncy, it's like what bands like Mayday Parade and All Time Low used to be before taking a more dramatic, mature tone. The "ballad" of the record is definitely track RIDE. It's somber, melodic, and pushes Jack The Envious' boundaries as song writers with dynamics and perception.

JACK THE ENVIOUS - WALK IN THE DARK

Closing track, THE RAPTURE kicks in immediately following RIDE with a hard, heavy hitter. While pop-punk at its core, the tune has a lot of the qualities of hard rock or even grunge with indifferent chord progressions that throw you for a loop, giant choruses and octave/ gang vocal vocal parts and sporadic screams throughout the track. The most pop-punk part of the tune is the random bridges in the tune that bring you back to base.

The last 2 tracks on the record are bonus track, featuring a B-side called LEAVE OUT ALL THE REST which is a combo between a pop-punk and pop-rock track with some qualities of a hard rock/ alt. rock tune. It's a jammy tune I'd listen to on a long sad ride in the car. The final track is a super hard hitting tune called BAT OUT OF HELL. It has some of the qualities of like an old school Avenged Sevenfold song with parts taking dark left turns, with heavy breakdowns, parts that break off into spoken word, hard screaming parts, and ripping guitar parts. It's definitely a power metal tune in my opinion.
