MODERN COLOR - Head Change SINGLE REVIEW

"If I stare straight at the sun, will I see Heaven?"

Upon wrapping up a summer tour, South Bay, California melodic rock/ ambient post-hardcore quartet MODERN COLOR recently announced the release of a brand new 7" record, PORTUGUESE BEND with debut single from the EP "HEAD CHANGE".

With a rad, mellow, unique sound the band reminds me of acoustic rock bands like Yovee meets the harder driven postcore-ness of bands like Thrice or even straight rock like Jimmy Eat World with a stripped down, to the point sound.

Portuguese Bend consists of two new tracks that see Modern Color continue to mesh as an alt-rock influence while stepping out of their comfort zone using vocal melodies as a driving force in the EP. The upcoming 7" is largely inspired by and named after a lush and beautiful cliffside portion of LA’s South Bay, where the band spent time growing up. PORTUGUESE BEND is set to release Sept. 28th.
