THIEVES & LOVERS - Underneath SINGLE REVIEW
Stoner - guitar/vocals Justin - drums/percussion
It warms my heart when every now and again whenever I receive inquiry to feature an artist from my hometown of Pittsburgh, PA. With that said, I'm delighted to introduce to you the dynamic indie rock duo THIEVES & LOVERS.
Originally from sunny Southern California, the band relocated in 2015 to Pittsburgh to dedicate themselves to this new full-time project. The duo picked up momentum since their debut in 2014 with nearly 1 million total plays on Spotify. The band's latest single UNDERNEATH is a hefty sum of that number.
UNDERNEATH utilizes THIEVES & LOVERS influences as well as their ability to blend melody, catchiness and driving guitars as a duo. Without a bass guitar in their some of their tunes, they definitely still hold their own proving that sometimes "more" is definitely not "merrier". With a definite pop-punk backbeat from the drums possibly deriving from influences like Jimmy Eat World and Taking Back Sunday.
THIEVES & LOVERS also delivers great rhythm and lead guitar parts in UNDERNEATH, with the lead carrying high 3rd & 5th harmony riffs, octaves about the melody. If words about the tune isn't enough, the band recently performed UNDERNEATH this past June LIVE on ABC News segment "Good Day PA." Check it out below!
