JOEY CAPE - “The Love Of My Life” SINGLE REVIEW

Country music and punk rock have kind of always went hand in hand when you look at the "outlaw" side of things. Artists like MxPx frontman Mike Herrera and Social Distortion frontman Mike Ness both have their own outlaw-style country bands, so for Joey Cape's new single The Love Of My Life to have a country-esque vibe to it is no surprise.

Fat Wreck Chords and singer-songwriter Joey Cape, frontman of the revered punk band Lagwagon and member of Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, recently released his new single track to be lifted from his brand new solo album titled Let Me Know When You Give Up. A contemplative & touching, country-tinged number about life on the road, “The Love Of My Life” follows the album’s first single, “I Know How To Run,” a song that finds Cape examining the current social debate and its divisive nature.

Cape had the following to share about “The Love Of My Life” and its origin: “It’s a simple tune and a vague love song about music and where our relationship began. I spent the first half of my life in Southern California and the last thirty-odd years in Northern Cal. The south is blissful, beautiful, over-populated and lonely. On a hot day it feels like it may catch fire, maybe for its sins."
