SHATTERED SHORES Announces Inaugural Lineup Including NEW FOUND GLORY, COBRA STARSHIP, 3OH!3, and more!

New Found Glory with Jaret Reddick of Bowling For Soup let loose on a cruise ship, Cobra Starship blasting under Caribbean skies, 3OH!3 somewhere in international waters playing "DONTTRUSTME", along with the likes of Four Year Strong, Cartel, Hey Monday, Stand Atlantic, Winona Fighter, Driveways and dozens more all trapped on the same floating festival for four nights. What could possibly go wrong?! Well we're about to find out on the inaugural launch of the SHATTERED SHORES CRUISE.

At the top of the official poster for Shattered Shores are three acts that could collectively soundtrack an entire generation's burned CDs, MySpace profiles and questionable early-2000s fashion choices: New Found Glory, Cobra Starship and 3OH!3.

Apparently the next logical step after spending two decades screaming pop-punk lyrics in sweaty clubs, Warped Tour parking lots and festival fields is to do the EXACT same thing in the middle of the fucking ocean, but honestly, that tracks. Shattered Shores Vol. 1 has officially been announced, bringing a massive collection of pop-punk, emo, post-hardcore, alternative and scene-adjacent artists aboard the Margaritaville at Sea Beachcomber for a four-night voyage from Miami, Florida, to Taino Bay in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, September 9-13, 2027.

Jaret Reddick of Bowling For Soup is joining the sailing as a featured guest, as the cruises "honorary captain", while the rest of the first-wave lineup includes Breathe Carolina, Cartel, Four Year Strong, Hey Monday, Hot Chelle Rae, MOD SUN, nothing,nowhere., Plain White T's, Stand Atlantic, The Summer Set, Action/Adventure, As December Falls, Broadside, Chandler Leighton, Charlotte Sands, DAVVN, Diva Bleach, Don't Panic, Driveways, Every Avenue, Like Roses, LØLØ, Millington, Not My Weekend, Public Works, SuckerPunch! and Winona Fighter. DJ performances from Caslow, Luci and The Brothers Grim are also on the bill.

In other words, Shattered Shores isn't simply grabbing a handful of bands from 2007, tossing them next to a swimming pool and calling it an emo cruise, there's some serious thought behind the generational spread here, with New Found Glory remaining one of pop-punk's most important lifers and Cobra Starship and 3OH!3 bring the neon-soaked, dance-floor side of late-2000s alternative culture, while other bands like Cartel, Four Year Strong, Hey Monday, Every Avenue and The Summer Set hit directly in that MySpace/Warped Tour sweet spot, and bands and artists such as Stand Atlantic, Winona Fighter, Driveways, Like Roses, LØLØ, Charlotte Sands and Action/Adventure represent what the scene looks and sounds like now and where it's headed.

The connections to Idobi Summer School, So What?! Music Festival, and Taking Back Emo make even more sense in that context. Each will host experiences aboard the cruise, giving Shattered Shores ties to organizations already entrenched in alternative music culture. The Shattered Shores site describes Summer School as focused on introducing fans to the next generation of alternative artists, while So What?! brings its long-running punk, hardcore and metal pedigree aboard. Taking Back Emo, meanwhile, grew from a Groove Cruise passion project into its own fan-driven celebration of emo and alternative culture, and it's awesome to see that level of pedigree extended to behind the scenes as well.

Shattered Shores is being produced by Whet Travel, the company behind Groove Cruise and more than two decades of music-focused sailings. According to Shattered Shores, the idea grew out of the community surrounding Taking Back Emo events and previous onboard takeovers before being expanded into a full-fledged standalone alternative cruise, and the “full-fledged” part is important, because this isn't supposed to be a normal vacation cruise that happens to have a few bands playing in the corner.

The Beachcomber will essentially become a floating festival venue for four days. Organizers are promising live performances, late-night sets, artist interactions, curated collaborations, fan experiences, themed events, panels and the sort of random encounters that become possible when the bands and the audience aren't disappearing into separate tour buses after the final song.

According to the event's FAQ, the Beachcomber carries roughly 2,700 guests, giving the sailing a considerably more contained feel than your average 30,000-person festival field. The ship will feature more than 15 dining options and 11 bars and lounges, along with what Margaritaville and Shattered Shores are billing as the first artist-designed live music venue at sea. So, yes, there is a very real possibility that you'll watch Four Year Strong tear through a set, grab food, stumble into Jaret Reddick somewhere on the ship and wind up singing pop-punk songs with strangers at two in the morning while the Atlantic Ocean is outside, which is a substantially different experience from fighting traffic out of a festival parking lot.

The cruise leaves Miami on Thursday, September 9, followed by a full day at sea on Friday. Saturday brings everyone into Puerto Plata and Taino Bay, where guests can spend the day around pools, bars, restaurants and beaches or head farther out through excursions. Shattered Shores says artist-hosted excursions are also planned, with possibilities including bar crawls, cabana hangs and other smaller experiences away from the ship. Another sea day follows Sunday before Beachcomber returns to Miami on Monday, September 13.

And because apparently four days of bands aren't enough chaos, Shattered Shores says there will be eight themed events across the voyage, one daytime and one nighttime theme each day. The themes themselves have not yet been revealed.

For anyone already reaching for a credit card, the cruise is 21+, and reservations are open now. The current booking page lists deposits beginning at $99 per person for standard accommodations, with higher deposits applying to suites. Pricing varies by room and occupancy, with the published table showing interior rooms as low as $1,249 per person when four guests share a cabin. Government taxes and fees add another $200 per person. Your booking includes the stateroom, standard dining, ship amenities and access to official Shattered Shores music performances and programming. Alcohol and specialty beverages, Wi-Fi, merchandise, spa services and shore excursions cost extra.

Some room categories are already displaying as sold out on the event's pricing page, which isn't exactly shocking considering people were able to pre-book the cruise through Shattered Shores' wonderfully named “Blind Faith Mafia” program before the complete dates, destination and lineup had even been revealed. Those early adopters basically handed over a deposit and said, “Fuck it, put me on the emo boat.” Respect.

More importantly, Shattered Shores feels like another sign of just how dramatically alternative music culture has evolved over the last several years.

There are still plenty of details to come, additional collaborations, artist experiences, themes and onboard programming remain open territory, but as far as first announcements go, Shattered Shores Vol. 1 has made one hell of an entrance, but now, most importantly: Where the hell do we sign up?
