AMERICAN TELEVISION - Death Defier SINGLE REVIEW
Steve Rovery - Vox/Guitar Jerred Lazar - Guitar/Vox Bryan Flowers - Drums Edwin Wikfors - Bass
Fellow punk rock father's and straight out of DC, punk quartet AMERICAN TELEVISION is a unique group bringing punk rock and pop-punk from all walks of the genre while blending in 90's alternative radio nostalgia to the mix in the band.
AM/TV's latest EP & single DEATH DEFIER takes all of the best aspects of the band's unique sound and blends them into one 3 minute punk rock anthem.
Speaking of blend, the band has their own fresh roasted coffee on sale, named after their new single. (Link below). The title track is an ode to the risk takers in the world, while the art depicts what seems as one of the most well-known risk takers "Evil Knievel." Lyrically the tune is about a gambler down on his luck coming to a place of acceptance and admiration. The tune to me is reminiscent of bands like Gaslight Anthem and Saves the Day.
B-Side of their EP entitled THE CREEK (my favorite) is a pop-punk homage to summers of youth, mischief, and angst in the summer August month. The punk rock dad's return to a care-free time in their lives with this nostalgic 2 minute tune.
