HATCHETS FOR HANDS - Bad Men SINGLE REVIEW
Brian Parks - Guitar & Bass Cullen Poythress - Vocals & Drums
San Francisco heavy metal duo HATCHETS FOR HANDS recently released their latest single "BAD MEN", a follow-up to their debut LP Convulsions of a Dying Empire. Now while punk rock and pop-punk are typically my schtick, hearing a duo piece together melodic death metal is truly a feat.
Bad Men kicks off like a bat out of hell, and stays that pace throughout the entire song, only "slowing down" during the breakdown. The guitar is all over the damn place, following the vocal melody while at the same time standing alone to handle the rhythm section, chugging during the breakdown busting into these little riff/licks splattered throughout the tune. Drums keep it fucking tight, punchy and heavy with a running pace's worth of kick drum.
