RANCID Auctions Signed Guitar for Little Punk Rock Girl
Legendary punk rockers RANCID have teamed up with Pirates Press Records to donate a Lars Frederiksen signature model ESP 'Volsung' guitar which is signed by the entire band with 100% of proceeds going to the Cystinosis Research Foundation in Josephine’s name, one very special and VERY tough little girl.
The auction is already underway and will be going on until December 4th at 4PM PST with the winning bidder making a donation directly to the Cystinosis Research Foundation. This auction is conjunction with the 2nd Annual Getting Jolly for Josie fundraiser at Hailstorm Brewery in Tinley Park, Illinois. An email to the winning bidder will be sent with instructions on how to donate directly to the foundation.
Lars Frederiksen had this message to say about the foundation and auction:
"My brother Tom (Nupe) Kanupke from Chicago and his band Fear City, with his family (whom I love), are auctioning off one of my signature ESP Guitars JP Volsung guitars with my signature @EMG pickups signed by all of us in Rancid (Matt, Branden, Tim). Tom's daughter Josephine (Josie) was diagnosed about 2 years ago with a rare genetic disease called Cystinosis. Cystinosis is a metabolic disease that attacks every cell in her body.
Attacking the major organs, mainly starting in the kidneys. To find out more, visit The Cystinosis Research Foundation (Cystinosis Research Foundation). 100% of this outstanding auction will go to the Cystinosis Research Foundation. This great organization funds everything related to this disease. They are fully funding the cure as well as grants for research and development of medicine needed to slow and stop the spread in the body.Tom is a hard working family man. And a man of the scene.
He and his wonderful family, Katie, Brendan and Josie are a wonderful and beautiful family. Trying to live the best life they can with this disease. As a father myself this is something that hits very very close to my heart. Josie is a vibrant, crazy, silly, 2 and a half year old. One second after meeting her, I was instantly wrapped around her little finger. With her big beautiful blue eyes and little dimple (check the pics!). You would never know she was living with this condition. That is because of the funding the CRF has received through the years by the generous donations.
