GYM CLASS HEROES Turn Back the Clock on New Single “Useless”

Remember when a night out came with a story instead of a 47-part Instagram recap? gymclassheroes. remember, and their new single “Useless” heads straight back to New York City’s Lower East Side, where the best connections happened face to face and the group chat had to fend for itself.
OUT NOW, “Useless” is the latest preview of the group’s forthcoming fifth studio album. Following this year’s “Universal Language,” it keeps Travie McCoy’s next chapter moving while revisiting the people and places that helped shape him.
“We made REAL memories. People were actually interacting with each other,” McCoy says of the era.
McCoy developed the song alongside Asa Taccone of Electric Guest. According to McCoy, hearing its early foundation gave him an immediate sense of where the collaboration could go, and “Useless” helped set the creative direction for the album they were making together.
“It has a GENUINE but FRESH gymclassheroes. vibe that’s undeniable,” he says.
For an act whose catalog has spent years connecting hip-hop, alternative, pop, and rock, that balance makes sense. “Cupid’s Chokehold,” “Stereo Hearts,” and “Ass Back Home” became part of a shared soundtrack across scenes. This new chapter gives that audience something current to connect with, with McCoy’s own history supplying the story.
“Universal Language” ended a 15-year gap between new gymclassheroes. singles earlier in 2026. “Useless” now offers another piece of the forthcoming record. A title and release date for the album have not been announced in the latest release.
The live calendar still has a few stops left, too. Pittsburgh gets its turn on lucky Friday, November 13 at Stage AE with Lupe Fiasco, followed by Vans Warped Tour in Orlando. Jacksonville Beach comes first on November 7, and Sonic Temple is already on the calendar for May 2027.
