gods of mount olympus album

modern color group

With a similar melancholic punk rock sound to Alkaline Trio meets the upbeat intricate vocal melodies and chord progressions to that of Unwritten Law comes New Zealand punk trio NOWHERE.

The melodic punk rock band was formed by three brothers and now operate mostly out of Berlin, Germany.

Previously releasing two albums prior, (‘Cancer’ in 2015 and ‘Virtual Reality Future Suit’ in 2017), the band recently dropped their forthcoming EP entitled BREATHING just in time for their fall European tour.

The 3 song EP sounds like a total throwback to late 90's punk rock with heavy sounding guitars, super compressed clean bass guitar and punchy, big powerful drums. That sound is a "staple" for a three piece, and it works perfectly.

Title track "Breathing" reminds me of Unwritten Law's 1998 self-titled album, reminiscent of tracks like Teenage Suicide & Lonesome. Seldom Crisis is like old school throwback to Alkaline Trio circa 2001 with those "four on the floor" and crescendo building verses with low octave vocals. Their last tune Be Your Boy which is a VOOM cover takes the song and puts their own unique spin on it which is the tune that reminded me the most of throwback UL.
