ONE MORE WEEKEND has a crazy start, all the way from their beginnings in 2015. After their first gig they were asked to fill-in for a no-show band the following night at a battle of the bands where the guys found theirselves in the last round, neck and neck at this "impromptu" show and winning a full day of recording time, an omen for the band for sure.
As shows started pouring in left & right, one leading to the next for the band, including awarded best act at the Knox Big Break Festival where they were asked to play at the Dweebfest Festival in Mt Gambier.
During this time they utilized their recording time, releasing their debut album "WE USED TO..." a pop-punk emotional 12-track record; engineered and mixed by well-known Melbourne producer David Carr at Rangemaster Studios (Kisschasy - Antiskeptic) and Mastered by Martin Pullen (Deep Purple) at Edensound.
Their first single BOXHEADS (released 2017) via "WE USED TO..." is reminiscent of the early 2000's pop-punk scene combined with a very distinctive Aussie lead vocal. Bringing together pop-punk, emo, and at times a subtle metal influence with the occasional guitar solo thrown in there. I love the use of 2 guitars in a band, it fills them out, and lets the lead guitarist BE a lead guitarist and allows them to (get down in the "dusty end" of the guitar neck).
Other than their current tour, the guys will be releasing a music video (from what I was told ;-) ) in the near future. If their single BOXHEADS doesn't buzz your ears, check out "De-icing My Car", one of my favorites by OMW.
