YEARBOOKS "Falling Backwards" SINGLE REVIEW

yearbooks

Formed in late 2014, and hailing from the central coast of California, this pop-punk quintet have spent the last year playing the SoCal circuit.

Their first record Hanging by A Thread was a collection of songs detailing the band's formative few years dealing with heartbreaks and hardships while their 2018 full-length record Peer Pressure, recently caught the attention of Lost Music Collective founders Vinnie Fiorello (Fueled By Ramen, Paper & Plastick, Less Than Jake) and Erick Droegsmoeller (Word Is Bond, Inc.).

On top of all of that, Yearsbooks was signed earlier this year by Lost Music Collectives and will be releasing their first album Stepping Stones under the label today Nov. 1st!

Yearbook's first single Falling Backwards is a straight-forward, in-your-face modern pop-punk song reminiscent of bands like Neck Deep and WSTR. The vocal melodies in the song are catchy as hell with this back and forth style singing from guitarist and lead vocals which not only help tell the story of the song but are a throwback to bands like Taking Back Sunday or early blink-182 songs. The rhythms of the song are thick and chunky, the breakdowns and stop-breaks are right where they're supposed to be with dynamics being on-point throughout the entire tune. But don't take my word for it! Listen to Falling Backwards below!
